What is AutoDJ?

AutoDJ is an automated broadcasting system built into every Shoutcast Net plan. It allows you to keep your station live 24/7 without needing to run software on your personal computer.

Media files are uploaded to your server and played directly from the cloud. You choose how they play — sequentially or randomly — and you can schedule specific content for specific times.

Key benefit: When a live DJ connects (via Mixxx or OBS), AutoDJ automatically pauses. When the live DJ disconnects, AutoDJ automatically resumes — seamlessly, with no dead air.

Step 1 — Log In to Your Control Panel

Your control panel credentials are in your welcome email. Open your browser and navigate to your control panel URL:

Audio Control Panel https://[YOUR SERVER HOST]/audio/
Video Control Panel https://[YOUR SERVER HOST]/video/
Username [YOUR USERNAME]
Password [YOUR CONTROL PANEL PASSWORD]

Step 2 — Upload Media Files

  1. Log in to your control panel (Chrome or Firefox recommended).
  2. Click the MEDIA button.
  3. Choose how to add files:
    • Option 1: Upload from your computer (you can select multiple files at once).
    • Option 2: Import from a website URL (supports importing entire playlists).
  4. Wait for the server to process your files with high-quality encoding.
  5. Move at least 2 files to the Default Playlist before starting AutoDJ.

Troubleshooting

AutoDJ Won't Start
  • You must have at least 2 files in the Default Playlist for AutoDJ to start.
  • Make sure your files have finished processing (check the MEDIA page — files should not show "Processing").
  • Refresh the HOME page after clicking START — it may take 10–20 seconds to go live.
Stream is Silent During AutoDJ
  • Confirm AutoDJ status shows RUNNING on the HOME page.
  • Check that files in the Default Playlist are valid and not corrupted (use PLAY MEDIA to preview).
  • Ensure the Default Playlist has more than 1 track (some servers require 2+ for looping).
Live DJ Did Not Override AutoDJ
  • Make sure you are using the AutoDJ port and AutoDJ password in your encoder (Option B settings).
  • Direct port and AutoDJ port are different — find both in your control panel under EDIT.
