How To Restream To Twitch

Get Your Restream Server

First, you need an active restream server from Shoutcast Net.

After activation, you'll receive your server credentials via email including your server number and stream key.

Get Your Twitch Stream Key

Access your Twitch Creator Dashboard to retrieve your stream key.

  1. Go to dashboard.twitch.tv
  2. Click "Settings" in the left sidebar
  3. Select "Stream" under Settings
  4. Find "Primary Stream Key" section
  5. Click "Copy" to copy your stream key
  6. Note the Ingest Server: rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/

Configure Your Restream Server

Add your platform stream keys to the Shoutcast Net control panel.

Control Panel Configuration
  1. Login to Control Panel

    Visit: https://www.shoutcastnet.com/profileview.php

  2. Find Your Restream Server

    Locate your restream server in the list and click Edit Server

  3. Add Platform Stream Keys

    You'll see separate input boxes for each platform:

Configure OBS Studio (Option A)

Set up OBS Studio to stream to your Shoutcast Net restream server.

Stream Settings
  1. Open OBS Studio
  2. Go to SettingsStream
  3. Service: Select Custom...
  4. Server: rtmp://pstnetserver[NUMBER].shoutcastnet.com/live Replace [NUMBER] with your server number
  5. Stream Key: Paste your stream key
  6. Click Apply

  • Resolution: 1280x720 (720p)
  • FPS: 60 (for gaming) or 30
  • Encoder: x264 or NVENC (GPU)
  • Rate Control: CBR (Constant Bitrate)
Output Settings
  • Bitrate: 4000 kbps (720p60)
  • Alternative: 3000 kbps (720p30)
  • Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds
  • Preset: Quality or Performance
  • Profile: High
Audio Settings
  • Sample Rate: 48 kHz
  • Audio Bitrate: 160 kbps
  • Channels: Stereo

Configure VirtualDJ (Option B)

Set up VirtualDJ to stream your DJ sets to Twitch and other platforms.

  1. Launch VirtualDJ

    Open VirtualDJ on your computer

  2. Open Settings

    Click the Settings button (gear icon)

  3. Navigate to Broadcast

    Click BroadcastVideo Server or Audio Server

  4. Configure Server Details

    STREAM TO: OTHER

    SERVER URL: rtmp://pstnetserver[NUMBER].shoutcastnet.com/live

    QUALITY: 720p / 4000kbps

    STREAM KEY: Your stream key

  5. Start Broadcasting

    Click START BROADCAST and close the settings window

Performance Monitoring

Watch Your Encoder Stats:

  • CPU usage below 80%
  • Zero dropped frames
  • Stable bitrate (no fluctuations)
  • Network: Green indicator

Monitor Stream Health:

  • Check stream delay (5-10 seconds normal)
  • Verify audio/video sync
  • Test on mobile and desktop
  • Watch for buffering issues

Engage with Chat:

  • Respond to questions and comments
  • Use chat commands and bots
  • Run polls and predictions

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Verify server number and stream key are correct (no spaces)
  • Check RTMP URL format: rtmp://pstnetserverNUMBER.shoutcastnet.com/live
  • Ensure firewall allows RTMP (port 1935 outbound)
  • Test internet upload speed (minimum 6 Mbps for 4000 kbps)
  • Try restarting your encoder application
  • Contact support if server shows as inactive

  • Wait 10-20 seconds after starting stream for Twitch to recognize it
  • Verify your Twitch stream key in control panel (copy it fresh)
  • Check if you've been banned or suspended on Twitch
  • Ensure you've set a stream title in Twitch dashboard
  • Try resetting your Twitch stream key and updating it in control panel
  • Verify two-factor authentication is enabled on Twitch
  • Check Twitch status page for platform issues

  • Lower bitrate: Try 3000 kbps instead of 4000 kbps
  • Reduce resolution: Stream at 540p if 720p causes issues
  • Change FPS: Use 30fps instead of 60fps
  • Encoder preset: Switch to "Performance" or "Ultrafast"
  • Network: Use wired ethernet, not WiFi
  • Upload speed: Close other bandwidth-heavy apps
  • Note: Non-Partners may not have transcoding (viewers must watch your bitrate)

  • Use hardware encoding: NVENC (NVIDIA), QuickSync (Intel), AMF (AMD)
  • Lower preset: Use "Fast" or "Ultrafast" in x264
  • Reduce output: Lower resolution and FPS
  • Close programs: Shut down unnecessary apps, Discord overlays, browser tabs
  • Game settings: Cap game FPS, reduce graphics quality
  • Run as admin: Give OBS/VDJ higher process priority
  • Update drivers: Especially GPU drivers for hardware encoding

  • Sample rate: Set all audio sources to 48 kHz
  • Sync offset: OBS Settings → Advanced → Audio Sync Offset
  • Bitrate: Use 160 kbps for better audio quality
  • Disable filters: Remove unnecessary audio filters/plugins
  • Audio monitoring: Disable if causing feedback loops
  • Update drivers: Check audio interface/sound card drivers
