Audio Stream Server + AutoDJ Automation

Complete setup guide for your professional radio streaming service

Step 1: Download & Install Mixxx

  1. Visit ShoutcastNet Download Page and install Mixxx (free DJ software)
  2. Launch Mixxx on your computer
  3. Click Options → Preferences
  4. Go to Sound Hardware tab:
    • Set Sample Rate to 48000 Hz
    • Set Audio Buffer to 85.3 ms

Option A: Live DJ (AutoDJ OFF)

Use this method when you want full control and AutoDJ is turned off.

In Mixxx, click Options → Preferences → Live Broadcasting tab:

Connection Settings:
TYPE:Shoutcast 1
HOST:audio.yourserver.com
LOGIN:(Leave empty)
MOUNT:(Leave empty)
PORT:8000
PASSWORD:your_source_password
BITRATE:192 kbps
FORMAT:MP3
CHANNELS:Stereo
  1. Click Apply and OK
  2. Load your music files into Mixxx playlist and start playing
  3. Click Options → Enable Live Broadcasting
Listen to Your Stream:

Web Browser (Recommended):
https://audio.yourserver.com:8004/stream

Virtual Worlds (Second Life, Alife):
Go to World → Parcel Details → Sound → Music URL
Paste: http://audio.yourserver.com:8000/stream

Option B: Live DJ (AutoDJ ON) - Recommended

Best option! Go live instantly without stopping AutoDJ. When you disconnect, AutoDJ automatically resumes.

In Mixxx, use these settings instead:

Connection Settings:
TYPE:Shoutcast 1
HOST:audio.yourserver.com
LOGIN:(Leave empty)
MOUNT:(Leave empty)
PORT:8010
PASSWORD:your_dj_password
BITRATE:192 kbps
FORMAT:MP3
CHANNELS:Stereo
  1. Click Apply and OK
  2. Load your music and start playing
  3. Click Options → Enable Live Broadcasting

You're now live! AutoDJ will automatically resume when you stop.

Listen to Your Stream:

Web Browser:

Virtual Worlds (Second Life, Alife):

AutoDJ Automation - Quick Start Guide

Broadcast 24/7 without being online

Your Control Panel Access:

URL: https://audio.yourserver.com/audio/

Username: your_username

Password: your_panel_password

Email: your@email.com

Uploading Music to AutoDJ

  1. Open your web browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)
  2. Go to your control panel URL above and login
  3. Click the MEDIA button
  4. Supported formats: MP3 M4A FLAC OGG MP4 WEBM MKV
  5. Option 1: Upload from your computer (can select multiple files)
  6. Option 2: Import from website URL (can load entire playlists)
  7. The server will automatically process your files with high-quality encoding
  8. Move at least 2 files to the Default Playlist for AutoDJ to work

Managing Your Playlists

Available Playlists:
  • Default: Main rotation playlist (plays continuously)
  • Jingles: Short audio clips inserted between songs
  • Scheduled: Time-based playlists (play at specific times)
  • Program: Special programming blocks
  • Store: Keep files without playing them
File Management:
  • Click on any playlist name to view its contents
  • CHANGE NAME: Rename your files
  • DELETE: Remove files permanently
  • DOWNLOAD: Download files to your computer
  • PLAY MEDIA: Preview files before adding to playlist
  • MOVE TO STORE: Keep files but don't play them

Starting AutoDJ

  1. Click HOME in your control panel
  2. Under Manage AutoDJ, click START
  3. Your station is now broadcasting 24/7!

Advanced Features

Click EDIT to enable advanced playlists:

  • Jingle Playlist: Automatically insert station IDs and ads
  • Scheduled Playlist: Play specific content at certain times
  • Program Playlist: Create special shows or programming blocks

Server Configuration

Customize your server settings:

  1. Login to your control panel
  2. Click the EDIT button
  3. Adjust available parameters for your server and AutoDJ
  4. Save changes to apply new settings
