Troubleshooting Common Issues

Solutions:
  • Verify stream key is correct (copy-paste, don't type)
  • Check if YouTube/Twitch account has live streaming enabled
  • Disable firewall/antivirus temporarily to test
  • Try different streaming server (for YouTube/Twitch, select different region)
  • Update Virtual DJ to latest version
  • Restart Virtual DJ and try again

Solutions:
  • Lower video bitrate and resolution
  • Use 720p @ 30fps instead of 1080p
  • Reduce video bitrate to 2500-3000 kbps
  • Close other applications using internet
  • Use wired Ethernet instead of WiFi
  • Check upload speed with speed test - need 5+ Mbps

Solutions:
  • Increase audio bitrate to 192 kbps or higher
  • Check audio levels - avoid clipping (red meters)
  • Set sample rate to 48 kHz in Virtual DJ settings
  • Enable high-quality audio resampling
  • Update audio drivers on your computer

Solutions:
  • Enable video output in Virtual DJ → Video tab
  • Select video source (camera, visualizer, etc.)
  • Check camera permissions in Windows/Mac settings
  • Try built-in visualizer if camera doesn't work
  • Verify video bitrate is set (not 0)

Free version restrictions:
  • Limited streaming duration (10 minutes per session)
  • Lower video quality options
  • VDJ logo watermark on video
  • No simultaneous recording while streaming

Solution: Upgrade to Virtual DJ Pro for unrestricted broadcasting. Alternatively, use OBS Studio (100% free) or Mixxx (100% free) for unlimited streaming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I stream with Virtual DJ Free version?

Yes, but with limitations: 10-minute session limit, watermark on video, lower quality options. For professional unrestricted streaming, upgrade to VDJ Pro or use free alternatives like OBS Studio or Mixxx.

Can I stream to multiple platforms simultaneously?

Virtual DJ streams to one platform at a time. For multi-platform streaming (YouTube + Twitch + Facebook simultaneously), use our Restream service or a multistreaming platform. Point VDJ to the restream server, and it distributes to all platforms.

What's better: Virtual DJ or OBS for streaming?

Virtual DJ: All-in-one DJ + streaming solution. Great for DJ sets with built-in mixing. Easier setup.

OBS: More flexible, better for complex scenes, overlays, multiple cameras. More professional features. 100% free with no limits.

Best option: Use VDJ for DJing, send audio to OBS for advanced streaming features. See our OBS setup guide.

How do I show my Twitch chat in Virtual DJ stream?

Virtual DJ doesn't have built-in chat overlay. Use OBS with browser source for chat overlay, or use third-party overlays like Streamlabs. Point VDJ audio output to OBS as audio source, add camera/video from VDJ window capture.

Can I use Virtual DJ for radio station broadcasting?

Yes! Stream to Shoutcast/Icecast servers using custom RTMP option. Perfect for internet radio. For 24/7 automated broadcasting when you're not live, use our hosting with AutoDJ which plays music automatically.
